MPA (Music Performance Assessment)
March 4, 2017
MPA for both Concert Band and Symphonic Band will be Saturday, March 4 at Lyman High School.
Concert Band performs at 10:30 and Symphonic Band at 1:30.
We are asking all students to be at WSHS at 8:00 am. Please remember socks if needed and black shoes. Dinkles are fine for the gentleman to wear with their concert uniforms.
We will be leaving WSHS at 8:45.
Once we arrive at Lyman, Concert Band will be getting ready to head to the warm up area and Symphonic Band will go in to the auditorium to listen to the first few bands of the day perform.
Students will be eating lunch at Lyman. There will be a concession area set up for students to buy food or they are welcome to bring their own lunch with them. We have requested a list of what will be at the concession stand and we will post that in the band room when we get it.
In an effort to save some money on buses, Mr. and Mrs. McIntyre are asking that all students be picked up from Lyman after their performance. We will not be taking buses back to WSHS.
Concert band can stay and listen to a few bands after their performance or they are welcome to leave. They will be ready for pick-up by about 12:00 if they will be leaving after their performance. Students will be picked up at the north parking lot. Please look at the campus map in the following link to see where that is. A chaperone will escort students outside to wait for their ride.
Symphonic Band and any Concert Band students who stayed will be ready for pick up by about 3:00 also in the north parking area.
We would love for you to come to listen to your students perform. They have been working for a long time to prepare for this day and they sound amazing. Come out to Lyman's auditorium and hear your students and then you will be there to take them home afterwards.
Students will be wearing their uniforms home and will need to bring them back to school first thing Monday morning March 6. There will be racks in the band room for them to rehang their uniforms.
We need chaperones for this event. Please scroll to the bottom of this main website page for a link to the sign up sheet. It is a great day to share with the students. Please consider joining us.
Chaperones will come to WSHS Saturday morning to meet and get instructions for the day, but you will then drive over to Lyman behind the buses so that you have a way home after the event.
Congratulations to the following students for being invited to perform in the Tri State, All State, and All County Bands:
John David Van Koughnett
*** Volunteering with the Band of Gold ***
Our Band of Gold Volunteers are a large part of what makes our band so successful, and any time or talent you can contribute would be greatly appreciated. Band Camp, after-school band practices, and band events are approaching and we need your help! There are many opportunities for working indoors and out. There are also many tasks that can be done in your home if you wish. If you have any questions about volunteering, please email email@example.com. The volunteer signup sheets for Band Events and the First Aid Tent are at the bottom of this page in the "Volunteer Opportunities" section. Additional sign-up sheets may be added during the year, so please check back often.
We appreciate all of our volunteers!
We are looking for...
We are in need of anyone who can sew. You do not have to be a seamstress, but just need to be able to sew a hem. Please contact Azora if you are able to help.
A large part of the success of our Band of Gold is due to our generous volunteers who donate their time, talents, and resources. Please consider investing in our WSHS Band of Gold.
